As you might have read before, I had a lot of time in the last days. So I read and read and read… The book I read last was recommended by a classmate 2 weeks ago when we had our yearly book presentations. The book is called Wunder in German (Wonder in English). It was written by Raquel J. Palacio and it even won a price (Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis).
This book is really good. I have got it in English and German as you can see on the picture. I have read both of them and prefer the German version, maybe because that is my mother tongue language.
The book is about a little boy called August which has a weird looking face. He already had 27 operations and he was never in school before when he entered grade 5 of his new school. The book takes several perspectives (August, his sister, friends, sisters friend etc.) on what happens in August’s life.
The book is sometimes funny, can be very emotional, but also brutal and sad. What I can say is that when you start reading you can’t stop anymore. That gets worse the more you read. Although usually I prefer funny and positive books, this book is exceptional and I liked it very much.
I can recommend it to boys as well as girls. I hope you will enjoy reading!
